ERNWACA Research Program Manager

Mission
Coordinate and expand the pan African research agenda on ICT1 pedagogical innovation
using highly participatory project implementation approaches. Coordinate training, research,
communication and publication activities. In collaboration with ERNWCA regional
coordinator, develop and pursue a partnership development strategy to expand the scope of
the research agenda.
Interlocutors
Regional staff, ERNWACA member researchers and coordinators, ERNWACA partners
including collaborating African universities and IDRC
Supervisor: ERNWACA regional coordinator
Supervise: ERNWACA webmaster and ERNWACA information officer
Responsibilities
Coordinate 2007-2008 and, if funded 2009-2011 pan African ICT pedagogical integration
research agenda and other research programs and projects
Interface electronically and by phone with national teams
Interface with University of Montreal and other technical partners
Facilitate exchange among national teams and sharing of lessons learned
Travel to participating/member countries to support national teams and partners
Prepare activity reports and review financial reports for program participants and partners
Ensure respect of program calendars
Ensure participatory and decentralized approaches that balance process and product
Develop learning environment and community of practice
Share results of informal and formal program evaluations among program participants
Prepare and participate in research methods training workshops
Elaborate communications strategy to share research results and stimulate public and
policy dialogue around them and ensure effective and participatory implementation
Write synthesis of national research reports for Web publication and submission to
professional journals
Edit a bilingual newsletter (electronic and paper versions) to share program progress and
findings regularly among participants, partners, others in target audience
Participate in the development of scientific publications, in conversation with ERNWACA
regional scientific committee
Draft research proposals for submission to potential partners to grow ERNWACA
strategic contribution to understanding of and better use of ICT to improve the quality of
teaching and learning in Africa

Profile
Minimum 7 years research and publishing experience, preferably in relation to education
and/or integration of ICT into African societies
Proven experience in human resource mobilization and multi-country team leadership
Experience in teaching/training in a variety of contexts
Minimum 3 years of successful administrative experience
Excellent analytical writing skills
Preferably MA or PhD in a social science discipline
Excellent communication and people skills
Creative solutions finder
Demonstrated use of integration of Internet and other multi-media, computer-based
applications into daily professional and personal life
Excellent in spoken and written French and English, in addition to several African
languages
International and intercultural experience including experience in several West/Central
African and other countries
Period: 2 years, renewable once funding secured for Phase II of the project
